Akzeptanz – A Conceptual (Queer) Short Film
Akzeptanz is a conceptual queer short film developed under the supervision of Professor Tim Romanowsky at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle, utilizing the meticulous, handcrafted visual language of stop-motion animation to explore a profound journey from alienation to self-acceptance and communal belonging. The film traces the emotional arc of an individual initially driven to escape reality due to societal rejection stemming from his/her sexuality. Through a transformative journey—characterized by struggle and self-discovery—(s)he achieves a poignant "gay awakening," leading to devotion to a significant other and, ultimately, reconciliation and acceptance from his/her estranged community.
Executed by the collaborative team of Calvin Tan, Anna Höpfl, Sujeong Kwon, Mascha Dovhusha, and Yoyo Jolitz, this project demonstrates stop-motion's ability to render complex, sensitive emotional landscapes with unique textural depth and intimacy.
